Recent Project: Lapismar

Lapismar is an online store that specializes in designer swim and beach wear for fashion-minded young women.  The exclusive assortment of designers makes it one of the only places online where these brands can be found together.

The site was designed to reflect the luxurious feel of a high-end tropical resort… clean lines that disappear, cool tropical blue with a fiery orange on an elegantly simple background.  Fantastic product photography sells itself, and the design didn’t need to overpower or dominate the page, just frame the content.

The site was built using Interspire Shopping Cart, perhaps the best e-commerce solution I’ve ever used.  Even with the large amount of customization and a unique site design, Interspire seemed to handle whatever design customizations we threw at it, with fantastic results.

In designing the logo, we wanted to keep the design quite simple and graceful.  Since the name is a fusion of the words “Lapis” from Lapis Lazuli, a blue stone, and “Mar” meaning sea, we wanted the logo to easily make that connexion.  We used a subtle reflection to communicate a watery feel, and creates a horizon on the logo.
